WLAX Opens 2025 Season Wednesday at Central Michigan
Golden Eagles and Chippewas have played every year since 2016
The Marquette University women’s lacrosse team opens the 2025 season on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Central Michigan at the CMU Lacrosse Complex.
The game will be broadcast on CMUChippewas.com with live stats accessible on GoMarquette.com.
Marquette and Central Michigan have met 10 times with MU leading the series, 8-2. Central Michigan is MU’s third most commonly played non-conference opponent behind Cincinnati and Louisville.The Golden Eagles won last year’s contest at Valley Fields, 17-6, on March 22, 2024. Meg Bireley and Tess Osburn had three goals each. Central Michigan is coming off a 5-13 season in 2024 where they went 5-1 in the MAC. The Chippewas were picked to finish second in the 2025 MAC preseason coaches’ poll.
Marquette returns 26 letterwinners from a year ago and adds 12 freshmen. The Golden Eagles return 70% of their scoring production from a year ago, 60% of its ground balls collected, and 100% of its saves.
Following Wednesday’s contest, Marquette hosts Louisville on Monday, Feb. 17 in its home opener at Valley Fields at noon CT.
