Dancers will lead audiences from the Villa courtyard to the Renaissance Garden, with Roy Staab’s Shadow Dance as a centerpiece. Against the dramatic backdrop of Lake Michigan at dusk, intimate dance sketches, tableaus and musical interludes will unfold in and around Shadow Dance, the Scaletta d’Aqua, the terrace and garden arbors for an unforgettable experience.  Music directed by Nick Zoulek.

Into the Garden is part of Wild Space’s Neighborhood Sites initiative, and will include school outreach in conjunction with the performance. OUTREACH PROGRAMS

Wild Space Dance Company will be offering three outreach programs at Milwaukee Public School sites, all designed to enhance critical thinking, self-discipline and self-confidence through making art and performance. Art Moves, a cross-discipline residency, will connect visual arts students at Lincoln Middle School of the Arts and Riverside High School with dance as part of its site-specific performance at Villa Terrace. In Project Dance Makers, participants take the lead in creating dances and performance work incorporating stories, cultural heritage and community themes.  Early childhood sessions of Project Dance Makers focus on body awareness, movement and spatial patterns. Wild Arts, now entering its tenth year, is a summer creative arts camp for middle school students held at Lincoln. Wild Arts offers dance, theatre and visual arts activities, in addition to field trips to the Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee Turners Gymnasium and other cultural sites.
