Wheelin’ at Westlawn FREE bicycle tune-up events and family rides scheduled for 2021
The annual Wheelin’ at Westlawn event is returning in 2021with multiple dates and the addition of organized family bike rides for the Westlawn community and other area residents. The bicycle tune-ups and repairs will take place on Friday, June 25 and Friday, July 23 from 3 – 6 p.m. at the Westlawn Gardens Playground Pavilion (located on N. 62nd St. and W. Custer Ave.). The family bike rides will take place on the subsequent Saturdays, June 26 and July 24, starting at 10 a.m. The rides will begin at the Westlawn Gardens Playground Pavilion.
Bicyclists can bring in their bicycle and receive a wide variety of services, including filling up tires, fixing a flat tire, oiling a bike chain and other minor adjustments. The free bicycle tune-up event and family rides are part of the work put forth by the Westlawn Partnership for a Healthier Environment.
Other event sponsors include the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Bicycle and Motorcycle Engineering Research Lab, DreamBikes, the Wisconsin Bike Fed, Milwaukee’s Choice Neighborhood Initiative, Silver Spring Neighborhood Center, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Nursing.
