MILWAUKEE – (January 14, 2020) Leslie Johnson has joined VISIT Milwaukee as the director of sales, leading the destination marketing organization’s convention sales department. In her new role, Johnson is responsible for directing, training, and monitoring the convention sales efforts and related activities to promote the Greater Milwaukee area as the destination of choice for conventions, trade shows, and other events.

“We’re very excited to welcome Leslie to the VISIT Milwaukee team during such a big year for the city,” said Peggy Williams-Smith, president & CEO of VISIT Milwaukee. “Her skills and experience are an excellent match for this role, and I’m confident that she will continue to make the Greater Milwaukee area the top destination for events of all types and sizes in 2020 and beyond.”

Johnson has more than 20 years of hospitality experience. Prior to joining VISIT Milwaukee, she was the vice president of sales and marketing for Paloma Resort Properties in Lake Geneva. Additionally, she has worked in various leadership roles for Grand Geneva Resort, Marcus Hotels & Resorts, The Capital Grille, and Hyatt Hotels & Resorts.

“I am so happy to be a part of VISIT Milwaukee and lead this incredible sales team that already boasts some great wins as far as booking Milwaukee conventions and events,” Johnson said. “As we host several major happenings this year and prepare for the expansion of the Wisconsin Center, I know our teams at VISIT and the Wisconsin Center District will have great success in promoting and selling Milwaukee as a top tier host city.”

Johnson has a bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She grew up in northern Illinois and currently resides in East Troy, Wisconsin with her husband and two children.
