MILWAUKEE – (January 22, 2019) This week VISIT Milwaukee launched the 2019 Official Visitors Guide at over 100 locations around the state and northern Illinois, with additional requests pouring in from across the globe. Filled with information on new family-oriented experiences, nightlife, late-night dining, and a whole lot more, the 2019 iteration is a colorful and thorough guide to all the wonderfully random fun that can be had in Milwaukee.

While geared toward visitors to the city, the Official Visitors Guide is also used by partners across the region to showcase the best of Milwaukee. “The Official Visitors Guide has all of the Milwaukee favorites loved by locals,” says Angela Damiani, president of social architecture firm NEWaukee. “When showcasing the city to folks considering a relocation to region, NEWaukee always includes this as a tool to help seal the deal.”

Kelly Neumann, assistant dean for new student & family programs at Marquette University, agrees. “New students, parents and families are consistently pleased with all Milwaukee has to offer,” she says. Through the Official Visitors Guide, “VISIT Milwaukee showcases the variety of activities, events and restaurants in the city, so there is always something to look forward to when returning to Milwaukee.”

That focus on locally beloved attractions and businesses – 974 of them, actually – is no mistake. The Official Visitors Guide is published once a year and created entirely in-house by VISIT Milwaukee’s award-winning marketing and communications staff, who are, of course, locals themselves. The guide also features local voices offering up recommendations on everything from places to shop to where to drink wine. Featuring hundreds of breathtaking images and illustrations, most of which are sourced from Milwaukee photographers and artists, the guide brings the city to life with stories on key attractions like ethnic festivals, the Fiserv Forum, and “hidden gem” museums.

VISIT Milwaukee staff, especially its sales team, showcase the Official Visitors Guide at meetings and conventions around the country. In fact, 200,000 of the guides are printed each year and distributed globally.

“We’re proud of this year’s guide because it shows that no matter your age, you will find something to enjoy and explore here,” says Megan Suardini, VISIT Milwaukee’s vice president of marketing & communications. “We aim to be best in class when it comes to providing an informative and entertaining publication for visitors and locals alike, and I think our stories on everything from the hotspots along The Hop’s route to the stories behind some of Milwaukee’s historic buildings and architectural gems do just that.”

The 2018 Official Visitors Guide, which was also created entirely in-house, won six national and international awards for distinction in copywriting, graphic design, and overall excellence. These awards, including the MarCom Awards, Davey Awards, and Communicator Awards, were administered and judged by the prestigious Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals and the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts (AIVA).
