Unspeakable violence leaves one child dead, another injured

Statement of Alderman Khalif J. Rainey August 30, 2021

By - Aug 30th, 2021 03:03 pm

Yesterday morning (Sunday, August 29) a 12-year-old boy was killed and an 8-year-old boy was injured in a heinous incident in our city. Milwaukee Police said the 12-year-old suffered blunt force injuries in the 4600 block of N. 46th St. (in the 7th Aldermanic District) and later died at a hospital, and the 8-year-old suffered non-fatal injuries during the same incident and received treatment at a hospital.

My prayers go out to the victim’s family and friends, who are suffering extreme sadness and loss. It is inconceivable to me that anyone could use such force to cause harm and fatal injuries to a child, or anyone.

This heinous and unspeakable violence simply cannot happen and must be strongly denounced in the community.

Police know the identity of the suspect in this case and are looking for that person. Anyone with information is asked to contact Milwaukee Police at (414) 935-7360 or Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-Tips or P3 Tips App for a cash reward.

The city’s Office of Violence Prevention has the 414Life violence interrupters, who can be reached for (free) mediation services, at 414-439-5398.

Anyone who is affected by the incident (witness to the incident or its aftermath) can receive help by the calling the city’s Mobile Trauma Response Team (MPD), at 414-257-7621.

Milwaukee County’s 24-hour Mental Health Crisis Line can be reached at 414-257-7222.
