WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin today announced more than $3 million in U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) YouthBuild grant funding for three Wisconsin organizations to better connect at-risk youth to employment and training opportunities. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Baldwin worked to secure funding for DOL’s YouthBuild program in strengthening our workforce and creating career pathways for young Wisconsinites.

The DOL grants were awarded to Employ Milwaukee, Inc. ($989,508), Community Action, Inc. of Rock and Walworth Counties in Beloit ($1,100,000), and Workforce Resource, Inc. in Menomonie ($1,100,000).

“I am proud to support this investment in Wisconsin organizations that work every day to help young people build better futures,” said Senator Baldwin. “The YouthBuild program not only helps increase graduation rates, it rewards hard work and invests in the dignity of work.”

YouthBuild is an education and training program that helps at-risk youth complete high school or state equivalency degree programs, earn credentials for family-supporting jobs and receive training to build housing for low-income or homeless individuals and families in their communities. Organizations who received funding this year will also offer training in other high-demand industries, including health care, information technology, hospitality and retail services, and logistics.

More information about the YouthBuild grant awardees is available here.
