Turkey & Pumpkin Pie Giveaway and Safety Resource Fair at UNCOM

By - Nov 17th, 2023 10:45 am

On Monday, November 20, 2023, UNCOM will host a FREE Turkey & Pumpkin Pie Giveaway and Safety Resource Fair as part of UNCOM’s Safer City MKE initiative, from 3-5 pm in the South Parking Lot of the Wellness Commons building (1609 W North Ave, Milwaukee). Turkeys and pies will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Funding for the turkeys and pies was generously provided by the Forest County Potawatomi Foundation.

Representatives from Community Advocates Public Policy Institute, Sixteenth Street Community Health Clinics, Vivent Health, and Office of Community Wellness & Safety will be in attendance to distribute mental health/suicide prevention information, locked medication boxes, Narcan, Fentanyl test strips, gun locks, and information regarding community resources/services available.

“At UNCOM, we are dedicated to creating safe spaces and bringing our neighborhoods together. We are fortunate to have our offices in the heart of historic Lindsay Heights and have neighbors who have welcomed us and our youth into the neighborhood. Giving out free turkeys and pies and hosting a safety resource fair is our small way of giving back to the community we serve and aligns with our mission to improve the quality of lives for Milwaukee’s families,” UNCOM Executive Director Renée Logee said.

The United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee (UNCOM) is a unique resource collaborative dedicated to strengthening the lives of Milwaukee’s historically most under-resourced youth and families. We work with these neighborhood organizations to provide services and create opportunities that empower individuals and build strong interdependent communities. This collaboration of eight (8) tightly affiliated and well-known neighborhood centers empowers UNCOM to combine its forces, to advocate for systematic change, serve as a trusted communication conduit for community residents, and build cases for strategic government and private investments in programs and institutions that help build strong and healthy families, accelerate prosperity, and make Milwaukee better for all residents.
