Trump and Walker don’t Give a Damn about Your Healthcare

Madison – Last night, President Trump signed an executive order that will dismantle a large part of the Affordable Care Act and hurt many middle-class Americans. Rep. Jimmy Anderson released the following statement:
“If anyone had any question about President Trump’s healthcare goals, his Executive Order says it all. By lobbing this grenade into the healthcare marketplace, it proves that Trump and his fellow Republicans do not care about you or your family’s health care or financial well-being. President Trump’s plan to gut insurance market subsidies means higher premiums and worse coverage for those lucky enough to keep their health insurance. For many, especially those with pre-existing conditions, it may mean no insurance coverage at all.
“President Trump’s Executive Order doesn’t provide “health insurance for everybody” like he promised. It isn’t going to save us money. It isn’t going to improve coverage. Rather than trying to improve the ACA, Trump is destroying it because he is petty. He is playing politics with people’s lives and he ought to be ashamed of himself. Unfortunately, the president is shameless.”
“It now falls to us at the state level to staunch the bleeding caused by the President. Unfortunately, Governor Walker has done nothing but cheer on Trump’s reckless actions. Already Wisconsinites are feeling the pain caused by the Trump/Walker healthcare policies with premiums increasing by 36% across the state. This is just the beginning. As long as Trump and Walker are in office, the people of Wisconsin will suffer.”
