Trump and His Lackey Congressman Tom Tiffany Support Tariffs to Drive Up Prescription Drug Costs

MADISON, Wis. — Yesterday, Trump announced plans for steep tariffs on generic prescription drugs, a cost-raising policy that would make medications even more unaffordable for many Wisconsinites. Congressman Tom Tiffany, Trump’s endorsed candidate for governor, cosponsored generic prescription drug import taxes in a 2020 bill that was so extreme only two other members of Congress cosponsored it.

“There’s no doubt that Congressman Tiffany will enthusiastically support these new cost-raising prescription drug tariffs since Tiffany himself cosponsored legislation to tax the prescription drugs Wisconsinites rely on,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Emily Stuckey. “Tiffany has admitted that people have been hurt by the tariffs and yet continues to be in lockstep with Trump, making life harder and more expensive for Wisconsinites.”

Congressman Tiffany strongly supports Trump’s costly and haphazard tariff-taxes and has said “I support them. I mean, tariffs have certainly had an impact,” even as he admitted the tariffs are harming Wisconsinites., Despite acknowledging that “there have been some people that have been hurt by the tariffs, there’s no doubt about it,” Tiffany has voted seven times to protect Trump’s tariffs that have cost Wisconsin companies and consumers approximately $3.5 billion just between March and December of 2025.
