Top Democrats from across Wisconsin endorse Sarah Godlewski for State Treasurer

Madison, WI –  Today, Senate Minority Leader Jennifer Shilling, former Governor Tony Earl, former Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton, and former Congressman Dave Obey announced their support for Sarah Godlewski’s campaign for Wisconsin State Treasurer.

“Sarah and I share many of the same progressive values, and she has the skills and the vision to transform the Office of the Treasurer into something truly impactful. She will work to lessen the burden of student loan debt, increase the sustainability of our state’s investments, and encourage economic empowerment for all Wisconsinites. I am proud to endorse Sarah to be our State Treasurer,” said State Senate Minority Leader Jennifer Shilling.

“In the last few years, Americans have lost confidence in our government. Sarah is the kind of person who can help restore a sense of integrity, respect, and trust in our public officials. She is the strong leader we need to restore accountability in public life and that’s why I am endorsing her for State Treasurer,” said Congressman Dave Obey (retired).

“Sarah Godlewski is a fifth-generation Wisconsinite who is uniquely qualified to serve as our next State Treasurer.  Sarah is a small business owner, financial expert, and a person well suited to return the office of State Treasurer to its traditional role as the guardian of our state’s fiscal integrity.  Sarah will do what it takes to hold accountable the public officials charged with managing our tax dollars. She will blow the whistle on accounting tricks and wishful thinking in our state budget. The watchwords of her tenure as State Treasurer will be service, accountability, and transparency. The citizens of Wisconsin deserve no less,” said former Governor Tony Earl.

Sarah Godlewski is a fifth-generation Wisconsinite and social impact investor from Eau Claire who will bring her financial expertise to the Office of the State Treasurer. She ran the Vote No committee to ensure that the Treasurer’s Office would survive the referendum on April 3rd and now she will work to restore more power to the office.
