Tony Evers’ Election Year Flip-Flop on Funding the Police

Amid Mounting Criticism, Evers Uses ARPA Funds to Pretend to Care About Public Safety

By - Mar 16th, 2022 01:11 am

[Madison, WI] – Tony Evers’ efforts to resurrect his failed public safety record are much like trying to put a band-aid on a stab wound. Tony Evers announced that he will designate more money from his taxpayer-funded re-election slush fund to police forces – ignoring the fact that he refused to stop cities from defunding the police just last year, and as of January 2022, he hadn’t even spent the money that he designated for “violence prevention” in October.

The fact remains that despite rising violence in Milwaukee and across the state, Tony Evers isn’t in a rush to address rising crime, and his record of refusing to hold John Chisholm accountable, fanning the flames of violence, and history of playing politics while cities burned has rendered his reputation on public safety beyond repair.

“Voters won’t buy Tony Evers’ election year flip-flop on supporting law enforcement, as his failed public safety record speaks for itself,”
said Republican Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Anna Kelly.
