Tiffany-Backed Healthcare Cut Responsible for Over 22,000 Wisconsinites Dropping Their Healthcare Coverage

MADISON, Wis. — Data from the Kaiser Family Foundation shows that more than 22,000 Wisconsinites who got their health insurance through the ACA marketplace have canceled their coverage since 2025. The data attributes the drop in enrollment to individuals being unable to pay higher premiums after Congressman Tom Tiffany voted to end Affordable Care Act subsidies. Tiffany recently admitted that, after more than 15 years of trying to gut the healthcare program nearly 300,000 Wisconsinites rely on, Republicans still don’t have an alternative plan to the Affordable Care Act.

“Tom Tiffany voted to make healthcare premiums unaffordable for working people and as a result, 22,000 Wisconsinites have been forced to drop their coverage,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Emily Stuckey. “Tiffany has worked over his nearly 20-year political career to gut healthcare for working people and admitted that he has no alternative to the Affordable Care Act—if elected Governor, Tiffany would continue to advance the MAGA agenda and make healthcare completely out of reach for working Wisconsinites.”

During the longest shutdown in history when Tom Tiffany fought for cuts to already existing subsidies in the Affordable Care Act, he directed his Republican colleagues to “hold firm” in their position that could raise healthcare costs for Wisconsinites. Tiffany has also said that the Affordable Care Act has “harmed the rest of America” despite the fact that nearly 300,000 Wisconsinites are currently enrolled in an ACA insurance plan.
