Three Golden Eagles tied for first at “Pay it Forward” Collegiate
Widal and Banas are 7-under through 36 holes
LITCHFIELD PARK, Arizona – Sophomore Ryan Banas fired a career-low 7-under 65 in Monday’s opening round of the Bell Bank “Pay it Forward” Collegiate and is tied with teammate Johan Widal and after 36 holes at Wigwam Golf Club’s Gold Course.
The Golden Eagles lead the 16-team field by 15 strokes after posting a 16-under 272 in the first round and an 7-under 281 in the second.Banas posted an unblemished first round on Monday morning with seven birdies to help the Golden Eagles out to an early lead. Widal sat just one stroke behind Banas with a 6-under 66 in the opening round.
Lyons shot a 4-under 68 over Monday’s final 18 holes to jump into sixth place.
Nebraska sits 14 strokes behind the Golden Eagles at following Monday’s action.
