The Latino Chamber of Commerce of SE WI Announces Powerful Speakers for 2nd Latino Economic Unsummit

MILWAUKEE, WI – September 15, 2021 –

The Latino Chamber of Commerce of Southeast Wisconsin (LCCSEW) is excited to announce speakers and details about their upcoming 2nd annual Latino Economic Unsummit to be held on September 24 in Milwaukee.  The focus of this event will be on economic recovery after the pandemic and on igniting structural and meaningful change to the Latino Entrepreneurial Ecosystem. The presenting sponsor of this event is Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin.

The Unsummit will convene a series of Engagement Circles where entrepreneurs will have authentic conversations with policymakers, procurement officers, and providers. Keynote speaker Mark Madrid, MS, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Associate Administrator, will provide a national economic perspective. In contrast, Melissa “Missy” Hughes, JD, Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), will provide a local Wisconsin perspective at the event.

Two speakers will represent Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin and Sixteenth Street Community Health Center. Dr. Jorge Saucedo and Dr. Julie Schuller, respectively, will lead Engagement Circles to address health disparities in Wisconsin Access to Healthcare.

“This past year, we experienced the triple crisis (pandemic, economic impact, and community unrest),” says Andres Gonzalez, Vice President, Chief Diversity Officer at Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin. “The trifecta had a profound and negative impact in our Hispanic/Latino/Latinx community. Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin has responded proactively to the triple crisis by ensuring the provision of culturally and linguistically responsive care for all patients, economic vitality through our supplier diversity efforts, and creating an anti-racism strategy in response to the community unrest and health crisis. Our mission and efforts aligned with the Latino Chamber of Commerce, and this partnership allows us to enhance the community  and economic vitality of SE Wisconsin” Gonzalez continued.

The 2nd Latino Unsummit will be held on September 24, 2021, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Four Points Sheraton Milwaukee Airport located at 5311 S. Howell Ave. Milwaukee, WI 53207. To register or for more information, please call 414.888.2270 or visit https://latinochambersew.org/unsummit-2021.
