Suspect Criminally Charged in Connection to the Officer Involved Shooting
MILWAUKEE, WI – On Friday, January 10, 2025, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office issued criminal charges against Emilio A. Arner-Ortiz in connection to an officer involved shooting.
The incident occurred on Monday, January 6, 2025, at approximately 9:37 p.m., Milwaukee Police Department officers were on the 2500 block of South 7th Street seeking Arner-Ortiz for sexual assault of a child and child enticement. The officers were informed that Arner-Ortiz was in a residence and made contact with him. While communicating with Arner-Ortiz, he pulled out a firearm. A struggle ensued between two officers Arner-Ortiz over the firearm. One officer discharged his firearm subsequently striking Arner-Ortiz. Arner-Ortiz was arrested and transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries.
Arner-Ortiz was charged with one count of Use of a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime, one count of Abduction of a Child, one count of Child Enticement, one count of Second-Degree Sexual Assault of a Child under 16 Years of Age and one count of Intentionally Pointing Firearm at Law Enforcement Officers. If convicted, he could face up to 126 years in prison and could be fined up to $360,000.
