Supervisor Taylor Statement on the Inauguration of President Biden and Vice President Harris
Milwaukee – Upon the inauguration Wednesday, January 20, of Joseph R. Biden and Kamala Harris as the President and Vice President of the United States, Supervisor Sequanna Taylor released the following statement:1“`
“Congratulations to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on their inauguration. I look forward to seeing what this change in leadership brings to our country.
“The inauguration of Vice President Harris marks a historic moment for our country. Kamala Harris is the first female Vice President, first Afro-American Vice President and first South Asian-American Vice President.
“As the first in my family to graduate from high school and college and then run for elected office, this is a very special moment for me.
“It is amazing to see more people of color in positions that our ancestors could only have dreamed of. Many little girls of color will now be able to grow up and see what is possible for them.
“It is important that we use this moment as a bridge towards unity and celebrate it. While this is a moment of many firsts, we must make sure that they are not the lasts.”
