MILWAUKEE – County Supervisor Sequanna Taylor is partnering with local activists and organizations including Homer Blow, Community Task Force MKE, Program the Parks, Ephesians Missionary Baptist Church, Taylor Legacies, Survivor’s Journey To Peace, Jacarrie Kicks4Kids, Schober Outdoor Advertising, and DreamTeam United MKE to bring aid to communities in New Orleans that were affected by Hurricane Ida.

“More than one month later, Hurricane Ida continues to devastate the lives of many people in New Orleans,” said Supervisor Taylor. “This will be the third time this year where we have been able to take aid to communities in other states that need a helping hand. Each time I am inspired to see leaders in Milwaukee come together with leaders across the country to provide aid to those in need.”

Survivor’s Journey to Peace is taking the lead in gathering items such as non-perishable food, water, toiletries, diapers, masks, gloves, batteries, first aid kits, flashlights, baby supplies, paper towels, work gloves, socks, clothing, garbage bags, cleaning supplies, and toilet paper.

Donations are being accepted in person at three locations: Glow Headquarters (2300 W. Hopkins St.), Gentle Hands Home Healthcare (6815 W. Capitol Dr., Suite 116), and Rise and Grind Café (3536 W. Fond Du Lac Ave.).

Those who wish to drop off donations are asked to wear a mask and practice appropriate physical distancing. City of Milwaukee health and safety guidelines will be enforced.
