MILWAUKEE – Following the announcement of Milwaukee County Board standing committee assignments made by Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson-Bovell for the 2026 term, Supervisor Steve F. Taylor expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Milwaukee County residents in key committee roles. Supervisor Taylor will serve as Chairman of the Committee on Finance, and as a member of the Committee on Community, Environment, and Economic Development (CEED) and the Committee on Parks and Culture. According to Taylor:

“I am honored to be trusted with these roles and the responsibility that comes with them. Serving as Chairman of Finance and a member of Parks and CEED gives me an even better opportunity to keep pushing for responsible budgeting, strong parks, and real economic growth for Milwaukee County.

“As we look ahead, the County is facing serious financial challenges, including a projected budget shortfall that will require tough choices. These are not new issues. Since my re-election in 2022, I’ve been sounding the alarm about the deficits our County is facing and how each year it’s getting harder to balance the budget.

“We’re now seeing those concerns play out in real time. It’s going to continue to take honest conversations and smart decisions to get through this. We need to focus on our core services and make sure we’re being responsible with taxpayer dollars. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and work with my colleagues to get it done.

“With a projected 50.8 million-dollar shortfall driven by rising costs, ongoing structural deficits, and continued pressure on County resources, the Committee on Finance will play a central role in evaluating budget priorities and identifying solutions in the coming months. I’d like to thank the Chairwoman for her faith in my leadership and look forward to the challenges ahead.”
