Statement from the Milwaukee Board of School Directors after Special Board Meeting
Tonight, the Milwaukee Board of School Directors took action during a Special Board Meeting to formalize the authority of Eduardo Galvan, Regional Superintendent of the Southwest Region. Named Acting Superintendent, Mr. Galvan will have more direct responsibility in overseeing day-to-day duties of the district.
“We appreciate Mr. Galvan providing stability and lending his three decades of experience to leading the district through this time of transition and opportunities,” said Megan O’Halloran, Board Member District 8.
“I have been with MPS throughout my entire career,” said Mr. Galvan. “I look forward to continuing to support the district to the best of my ability as we move forward.”
The Board intends to engage a firm to lead a national search for a permanent superintendent. The district will seek input from the community and other MPS stakeholders.
