Statement from Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson

On the passing of Mark Nicolini.

By - Jan 20th, 2022 05:10 pm

“I learned this afternoon of the death of a valued and trusted Milwaukee public servant, Mark Nicolini

“Mark dedicated his professional career to government finance where he served the State of Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Common Council, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, and, for more than a dozen years, as the Director of Milwaukee’s Office of Budget and Management.

“Listing his resume does not sufficiently honor Mark.  He was a genius in fiscal matters and a calm problem solver.  Everyone who worked with Mark held him in the highest esteem.

“Since his retirement four years ago, Mark volunteered his time to assist Milwaukee as we wrestled with the city’s pension funding challenges.

“I am greatly saddened by his passing.”
