St. Ann Center Gala Celebrates Dreams Come True

St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care will host its 13th annual gala on Friday, Aug. 4, at Discovery World Museum. With the theme “Dream Together,” the gala will celebrate the dream, started 34 years ago, that developed into a world-renowned day care program that serves children, older adults and people with disabilities all in the same home-like setting.

The event begins at 6 p.m., when guests gather for a cocktail hour in the Lakeview Tent, followed by dinner in the Pilot House. The evening features live and silent auctions, dinner catered by Bartolotta Restaurants and entertainment by SistaStrings. Milwaukee-based sisters Monique and Chauntee Ross are classically trained instrumentalists who riff on elements of classic and gospel music to create their own unique sound. Showcased in the live auction are vacation packages to Costa Rica, Cancun and Arizona, and Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks fan packages.

All proceeds from the gala support St. Ann Center’s Care Champions program, which directly benefits youth, frail elderly and adults with disabilities who have no means to pay for services they desperately need. The gala will also honor St. Ann Center supporters, the Care Champions who make these services possible. Among the adult day services offered to promote independence and a sense of purpose are whirlpool baths, physical therapy, occupational therapy, art and music therapy.  Youngsters in St. Ann Center’s early childhood education program learn to respect and appreciate the adult clients as they join them for intergenerational activities on a daily basis.

The gala will also spotlight the growth of St. Ann Center from the 1999 opening of its Stein Campus, 2801 E. Morgan Ave., to its replication in 2015, when the Bucyrus Campus opened at 2450 W. North Ave. The second campus will allow the Center to more than double the number of people served, while bringing jobs to residents on Milwaukee’s near north side.

St. Ann Center thanks Marji Singer, MHS Health Wisconsin, Catalyst Construction and all the generous sponsors who support the gala and the continued care for all ages and abilities at both campuses.
