Silver City Week to Celebrate Community, Diversity and Opportunity

Week-long promotions and events to brings together business owners, neighbors and partners to celebrate Milwaukee's Silver City neighborhood

Layton Boulevard West Neighbors (LBWN) announces “Silver City Week” May 5th-14th, 2016!

LBWN, neighbors and business owners, along with event sponsor Town Bank, invite you to celebrate community, diversity and opportunity in the Silver City Neighborhood this May! The Silver City neighborhood is known for its diversity of businesses including one of Milwaukee’s best InterNational dining destinations on the Southside of Milwaukee.

“Silver City Week offers an opportunity for Milwaukeeans to enjoy all the wonderful assets of the Silver City neighborhood, including a variety of locally-owned ethnic restaurants, Arlington Heights Park, and the Urban Ecology Center” shares LBWN Economic Development Manager, Celia Benton.

Diverse and locally-owned businesses along West Pierce Street and West National Avenue highlight specials for ten days this May (May 5-14th). When you mention “Silver City Week”, discounts include 15% off at Our Daily Salt, 15% off at Thai Lotus, $1-off Happy Hour drinks at Gene’s Unicorn, 10% off at NTS Jewelry, and additional specials at Vientiane Noodle Shop, as well as discounts at other Silver City businesses and neighborhood events!

Benton shares “Business owners have worked in a combined effort to bring together this 10-day event that highlights the strong connection neighbors and business owners have with the uniquely-diverse neighborhood of Silver City!”

“Silver City Week is an example of the impactful work that LBWN does in collaboration with local business owners, neighbors and community partners to expand economic opportunity and celebrate diversity in Silver City and throughout Milwaukee” remarked Joaquin Altoro, Vice President of Commercial Banking at Town Bank, sponsor of Silver City Week. “Collective efforts like this are what continues to strengthen and revitalize the City of Milwaukee!”

The week finishes with Silver City Celebration Day on Saturday, May 14th from 1-4pm at Arlington Heights Park (3429. W. Pierce St)!  The celebration will offer family activities, lawn games, FREE minor bike repair from the Wisconsin Bike Fed’s Mobile Bike Hub, and FREE Velobahn Coffee (Silver City’s first locally-owned coffee shop opening this summer).
