Shot/Chaser: Johnson Falsely Claims to Have Helped Wisconsinites Recover from the COVID-19 Pandemic

Madison, Wis. — Sen. Ron Johnson, who stood in the way of COVID relief for Wisconsinites, is now trying to paper over his abysmal record, and Wisconsinites aren’t having it.

Shot: On a tele-townhall, Ron Johnson, the same man who voted against the American Rescue Plan which was critical in helping the state recover from the pandemic, attempted to claim he was “happy to help people that needed help.”

Chaser: Unfortunately for Johnson, Wisconsinites are calling him out for his failures. The same day Johnson made his comments, Melissa Buchholz, owner of the Odd Duck in Milwaukee, wrote an op-ed calling him out.

Buchholz laid into Johnson saying, “As a restaurant owner, I am truly grateful for the assistance that helped me keep my doors open and my staff employed. We faced unimaginable hardship in 2020 and I don’t understand how some elected officials, such as U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson refused to support the rescue bill.
