Milwaukee, Wis. (May 30, 2023) – Serenity Inns, a renowned drug and alcohol program in Milwaukee, is delighted to announce the receipt of a significant grant of $75,000 from the Bradley Foundation. This generous grant will enable Serenity Inns to expand its drug and alcohol recovery services and provide much-needed support to individuals struggling with substance use disorder in Milwaukee County.

As one of the few drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities in Milwaukee catering specifically to men without insurance or the means to pay upfront, Serenity Inns plays a crucial role in addressing the equity issues marginalized communities face. The Bradley Foundation’s grant will further strengthen the organization’s ability to provide quality, evidence-based treatment services to some of the most vulnerable populations in the City of Milwaukee.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Bradley Foundation for their invaluable support,” said Ken Ginlack, CEO of Serenity Inns. “This grant will enable us to continue our mission of getting ahead of the opioid epidemic and saving lives. Unfortunately, so many individuals in our city are unaware of how to seek help when needed. By offering men a safe place to stay, counseling services, and the time to work on the underlying trauma, we actively combat this problem and provide hope for a brighter future.”

The awarded grant will play a pivotal role in Serenity Inns’ operations, particularly in providing residential treatment facilities that improve access to substance use disorder (SUD) services for individuals in the community. Enhancing the affordability and accessibility of treatment services is critical in overcoming the opioid epidemic. Additionally, the funds will help Serenity Inns establish a stable treatment environment by offering onsite assistance during the initial 30 days of treatment, reducing relapse and early treatment termination rates through onsite services, and preventing rising overdose rates among people of color in Milwaukee County.
