Senator Baldwin Helps Secure $260,000 to Lower Price at the Pump, Expand Availability of Homegrown Biofuels
Funding from the Baldwin-supported Inflation Reduction Act will help Wisconsin gas station expand access to clean biofuels, support Wisconsin agriculture community
U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin announced that the BP Kenosha Travel Plaza in Kenosha, Wisconsin, will receive nearly $260,000 to help increase the availability of homegrown biofuels, cut the cost at the pump, and give Wisconsinites cleaner fuel options. The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program, funded by the Baldwin-supported Inflation Reduction Act.
“Renewable fuels are a homegrown energy solution that support Wisconsin’s farmers and producers, help drive down the price at the pump, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil,” said Senator Baldwin. “I voted for the Inflation Reduction Act to lower costs for Wisconsinites, support good-paying jobs, and invest in our rural and farming communities – and this announcement helps us do just that.”
The funding will enable the BP Kenosha Travel Plaza to create the necessary infrastructure to expand their use and sale of biofuels. The project is anticipated to increase the amount of biodiesel sold by more than one million gallons annually by installing four E15 dispensers, two B20 dispensers, one ethanol storage tank, and one biodiesel storage tank at the fueling station.
Senator Baldwin has long championed increasing the use of biofuels to reduce the price at the pump and support Wisconsin’s farmers, producers, and rural communities. In April, Senator Baldwin successfully pushed the Biden administration to allow E15 fuel to be sold during the summer months.
