Senator Baldwin Delivers Over $6 Million for Wisconsin Airports to Improve Safety and Efficiency
Milwaukee, Green Bay, Marathon County, and La Crosse airports receive Baldwin-backed federal investment
WISCONSIN – Today, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) announced that four Wisconsin airports in Milwaukee, Green Bay, Marathon County, and La Crosse have been awarded over $6 million in federal funding to enhance safety, replace critical equipment, and upgrade facilities.
The funding for the projects comes from the Baldwin-backed annual government funding legislation and a program that Baldwin voted to extend in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization legislation. The following airports received funding:
Milwaukee General Mitchell International Airport – $2,876,300 to install new lighting to enhance safety and rehabilitate taxiway to extend its useful life.
Green Bay-Austin Straubel International Airport – $2,068,226 to replace existing snow removal equipment that has reached the end of its useful life.
Central Wisconsin Airport in Marathon County – $862,209 to replace an existing fire-fighting truck to improve safety.
