Today, Governor Evers signed the biennial state budget after determining 51 partial vetoes which significantly improved the legislation. Senate Democratic Leader Melissa Agard (D-Madison) released the following statement:
“Today and everyday I’m grateful we have Governor Evers in the East Wing. His laser-focus on the hardworking people of Wisconsin is crystal clear in his 51 partial vetoes. He took the Republican authored budget that came out of the Joint Finance Committee and vastly improved it. While Republicans focused on millionaires and special interests, the governor continued his career long focus of helping our public schools and the middle class.
“While Republicans missed the mark in not taking the Medicaid expansion, gutting the Child Care Counts program, and not legalizing cannabis for adult responsible use – Governor Evers has now left us in a strong financial position to work on these important priorities during our Fall legislative session.”
