Sen. Fitzgerald, Rep. Jagler Respond to Evers’ Executive Order Banning R-Word
[Madison, WI] — Today, Governor Evers signed Executive Order #15. The order copies key components of legislation introduced by Sen. Scott Fitzgerald and Rep. John Jagler to ban the “R-word” and its derivatives from Wisconsin administrative code. That bill is advancing quickly in the Legislature. Following the announcement by the governor, Fitzgerald and Jagler released the following joint statement:
“We’re glad that the governor decided to follow the Legislature’s lead on this issue in eliminating this offensive language. Today’s action is a good start, but we can do better. Banning this type of language needs a permanent legislative fix. We look forward to sending our bill to the governor’s desk and it being signed into law.”
