“Season One: Performance Showcase @ The ARTery” features day of live acts

“Season One: Performance Showcase @ The ARTery” will feature various free art workshops and performances tomorrow (Saturday, June 28) from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the 6th Aldermanic District at the ARTery on the Beerline Trail at the corner of E. Keefe Ave. and N. Richards St.
The groups include Saehee Change & Garam Korean Drum Group, JCPAA Inc. Youth Praise Dance Group, a tattooing demonstration, live caricature drawings with Reynaldo Hernandez, spoken word poetry with Genesis Renji, TRUE Skool hip hop arts, and Summer of Peace’s promote the positive youth showcase. The acts were chosen from 116 applicants by a jury of Milwaukee artists and community leaders. “This performance series is a great opportunity to bring residents from Harambee and Riverwest neighborhoods together to enjoy local talent in a public
space, all helping to build community,” Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs said. Each performer was awarded $500 for their winning idea and up to $1,000 to produce their piece.
This is the first festival of the series—the next festivals will fall on the last Saturday of July and August. There will also be food trucks, vendors and information booths.
