MERRILL — Wisconsin State Treasurer and candidate for U.S. Senate Sarah Godlewski released the following statement after news broke that Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer is retiring:

“We thank Justice Stephen Breyer for his distinguished and dedicated service to our country. President Biden and the Senate must move quickly to confirm a new Supreme Court Justice and reject any efforts by Mitch McConnell, Ron Johnson, and the GOP to steal another seat. With reproductive rights, voting rights, LGBTQ rights, civil rights, and so much more at risk, we must fill this seat now.”

In September, Sarah Godlewski called on Justice Breyer to retire in order to prevent any attempts by the GOP to steal yet another seat on the Supreme Court.
