Roys: ‘No One Is Above the Law’
MADISON – State Sen. Kelda Roys on the latest ICE attacks in Milwaukee:
“ICE under Trump is incompatible with a free society. We cannot tolerate a private paramilitary force that defies our laws and is only accountable to one man. That’s a dictatorship, not a democracy.
“The Trump regime is making every single one of us less safe and less free, and no one is above the law. ICE is destroying public trust in law enforcement and has abandoned any pretense of legitimate immigration enforcement. They refuse to respect our Constitution, our laws, or our rights. I call on my counterparts in Washington D.C. to abolish ICE, end this abuse of power, and build legitimate immigration enforcement.
“ No one is above the law. As governor, I will work with our attorney general and district attorneys to prosecute ICE agents when they break our laws. We can have secure borders and enforce our laws fairly without terrorizing our communities and violating our rights. We will not accept these attacks. Working together, we will protect our neighbors, keep families together, and make our communities safe and free.”
