Rep. Margaret Arney Sworn in as Wisconsin State Representative
Succeeds Outgoing Rep Evan Goyke
On Monday, January 6, Wauwatosa City Council Member Margaret Arney was sworn in as the Wisconsin State Representative for the 18th Assembly District, which represents parts of eastern Wauwatosa and western Milwaukee.
Rep. Arney brings more than 30 years of experience as a community leader, nonprofit professional, and teacher. She led the African American Leadership Program of the African American Leadership Alliance Milwaukee, along with the group’s founder Dr. Jeanette Mitchell and others. She was elected to the Wauwatosa City Council in 2022, where she has served on the Financial Affairs Committee, Government Affairs Committee, the Equity and Inclusion Commission, and the Wauwatosa Senior Commission.
Rep. Arney holds a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University and Master of Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago, as well as a Certificate in Applied Gerontology from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Representative Arney will be a member of two committees, the Assembly Committee on Transportation and the Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules.

Rep. Arney succeeds Evan Goyke, who served as the Representative to the 18th District for 12 years and will now be serving as Milwaukee City Attorney
