raSmith Opens Milwaukee Office in Historic Walker’s Point Neighborhood
Downtown Milwaukee’s booming development closely aligns with raSmith’s urban planning and site design services
BROOKFIELD, Wis. — raSmith has announced the opening of a Milwaukee office in the historic Walker’s Point neighborhood at 221 S. 2nd Street in March 2019.
“We have made the decision to open a Milwaukee office based on two primary factors,” said Richard (Ricky) A. Smith, Jr., president. “First, the increasing amount of urban development in Milwaukee provides opportunities that closely align with raSmith’s areas of expertise. Second, we have received feedback from our clients that a downtown Milwaukee presence would help ensure our interactions are even more efficient. We are looking to expand our existing working relationships and take on new projects with architects, developers and contractors.”
Tom Mortensen, site planner and professional landscape architect, will lead the Milwaukee office. Chris Hitch, civil engineer and senior project manager, and Luke Haas, professional landscape architect, will join Tom in working out of the Milwaukee office full time, with plans to add professional staff in the near future. They will focus their efforts on providing urban planning, site planning, site design, landscape architecture and green infrastructure design services to new and existing private and public sector clients. Additional services to be offered from the Milwaukee office include structural engineering, transportation and traffic engineering, municipal engineering, GIS (geographic information systems), ecological services, land surveying, LiDAR (3D laser scanning), UAS (unmanned aircraft systems) and construction services.
raSmith has experience on a variety of projects in downtown Milwaukee, the most recent of which include Milwaukee Fortress apartment building, Hammes office building, MIAD (Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design) urban plaza, Lakeshore State Park, Coakley Brothers Co. headquarters renovation, Brix Apartment Lofts, Couture Transit Center, BMO Harris Tower, 550 Ultra Lofts and Freshwater Plaza.
