Public Support for “The People’s Budget” Grows
Citizens from across Wisconsin testify before the Joint Finance Committee in Oak Creek in support of Governor Evers’ budget request
MADISON— Yesterday the Joint Committee on Finance (JFC) convened in Oak Creek and received testimony from citizens across Wisconsin in support of Governor Evers’ budget request – “The People’s Budget.” JFC Democratic member Rep. Evan Goyke (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement at the conclusion of yesterday’s testimony:
“My neighbors, community members, and fellow citizens of Wisconsin clearly outlined in their testimony the need for passage of Governor Evers’ budget and the vital investments it makes in every community across the State. Thank you to all who came to testify and for your engagement and advocacy.
Following his election, and throughout the budget process, Governor Evers has traveled the State meeting with citizens in both urban and rural communities to discuss their needs, challenges, and priorities moving forward. Governor Evers listened and these ideas are reflected in his budget proposal.
The excitement and enthusiasm for the budget continues to grow. Whether it be the need for Medicaid expansion, an increase in special education funding, or transportation investment, among others – the people of Wisconsin support Governor Evers’ budget and its passage.
I look forward to additional testimony in the weeks ahead as Governor Evers continues to work alongside those who matter most – the people.”
