Public Comment Period Open for Two New Wisconsin DMV Specialty License Plate Requests
Comment period open through June 5 for Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin and Wisconsin FFA Foundation
A 30-day public comment period is now open as the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) reviews applications from two organizations requesting new specialty license plates:
- The Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin mission is to foster and unite active communities to advance cycling and walking in Wisconsin through education, legislation and infrastructure. This organization providing safe cycling and walking classes at schools, nonprofits and in communities, advocating for bike friendly laws, running bicycle safety and awareness media campaigns, serving seniors through Cycling Without Age, and producing events to foster bike tourism in our state.
- The Wisconsin FFA Foundation mission is to build and encourage philanthropy to support and grow agricultural education and FFA Foundation.
Each plate will require a $25 donation for the organization which will be collected at issuance and at the time of annual registration renewal to support the organization’s overall charitable contributions. This annual donation will be in addition to the regular registration fees and one-time issuance fee.

The public comment period is the first step in a process for groups interested in sponsoring an Authorized Special Group license plate. The public can review each application submitted to become a special group plate and submit an objection if they do not approve of the special group plate. The public review period is open for 30 days. All objections are passed to the legislative Transportation Committee for final decision on the plate’s status.
