Potawatomi Hotel & Casino Chooses 20 Area Children’s Charities to Split $500,000
Gifts come as part of the 2022 Heart of Canal Street campaign
MILWAUKEE (Dec. 15, 2022) – Twenty outstanding organizations which serve the needs of Milwaukee-area children were randomly selected to receive gifts of $25,000 each on Thursday as part of Potawatomi Hotel & Casino’s Heart of Canal Street campaign.
The organizations, chosen randomly during a special event Thursday evening, include:
- Artists Working in Education
- Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin
- Bloom 360 Learning Community
- Boys & Girls Club of Washington County
- Caledonia Conservancy
- Civic Music MKE
- College Possible Milwaukee
- First Stage
- Junior Achievement of Wisconsin
- Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful
- Kenosha Human Development Services
- Lupus Foundation of America, Wisconsin Chapter
- Mount Mary University
- Prevent Blindness Wisconsin
- Riveredge Nature Center
- The Ability Center
- The Arc of Racine County
- United Community Center
- Project Kindred
- Walker’s Point Youth & Family Center
Funds were raised this year after Potawatomi Hotel & Casino committed to match all slot jackpots won, up to $500,000, between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Black Friday. Guests won more than $587,000 in jackpots during that time frame.
Since 1994, our Heart of Canal Street program has distributed more than $20 million to hundreds of local children’s charities. Those charities help feed kids in our community, supplement their education, expose them to the arts and so much more.

Heart of Canal Street is Potawatomi Hotel & Casino’s signature community program that raises funds for children’s charities in southeast Wisconsin. The program has raised more than $20 million for hundreds of area organizations since 1994. It began as a way to carry on the Potawatomi tradition of nurturing younger generations so they grow to lead healthy, productive lives.
