MADISONPlanned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin (PPAWI) today announced that Mike Murray has taken the helm as the organization’s executive director. PPAWI is the advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and works towards enacting policies to advance health care access and support healthy women, families and communities.

“We are thrilled to have Mike leading our advocacy efforts in Wisconsin,” said Tanya Atkinson, president of PPAWI. “Mike has a long history of supporting policies that move Wisconsin forward. He’s well versed in reproductive health policy, government relations and social justice. PPAWI will benefit from his expertise and leadership.”

Before bringing his talents to PPAWI, Murray was the policy director at the Wisconsin Alliance for Women’s Health, where he advocated for policies to promote the health, economic security and safety of women and girls in Wisconsin. Murray also previously worked as the policy specialist for the Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault and as an aide in state legislative offices.

“I am honored to join the excellent team at PPAWI. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about making sure people have access to the health care they need, and I’m excited to continue this vital work at PPAWI,” said Murray. “In this moment, when attacks on health care access have become the norm, I pledge to fight for Wisconsin women and families. I am proud to join PPAWI and support its mission to ensure access to the full range of reproductive health care in Wisconsin.”

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin is the advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin. PPAWI engages in legislative and educational activity and works to elect candidates to office that support these goals.
