Packers Sign Two Players to the Practice Squad
The Green Bay Packers have signed DL Dante Barnett and CB Tyron Herring to the practice squad. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Wednesday.
Barnett (6-1, 275), a rookie and native of Birmingham, England, joins the Packers as part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program. He spent part of this past offseason with the Cincinnati Bengals. Barnett began playing football at age 16 and spent three years at the NFL Academy located at Loughborough University in Leicestershire, England. He played one season (2022) at Dickinson College (Division III) in Carlisle, Pa. Barnett trained in England over the past two years while working at a Jaguar-Land Rover plant. He attended the University of South Florida’s pro day in March via the IPPP. Barnett will wear No. 69 for the Packers.
Herring (6-1, 201) rejoins the Packers after originally signing with Green Bay as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2025. He was released by the Packers after training camp and spent part of the regular season on the practice squad of the New England Patriots. Herring began his career at Dartmouth College (2019-22) before finishing at the University of Delaware (2023-24). He was named fourth-team All-Ivy League in 2022, honorable mention All-CAA in 2023 and second-team All-CAA in 2024. Herring played in 17 games in three seasons for the Big Green (2019, 2021-22), recording 49 tackles (33 solo), an interception, a tackle for a loss and four passes defensed. In two seasons with the Blue Hens, he played in 23 games, registering 72 tackles (50 solo), four interceptions, 11 passes defensed, 3.5 tackles for a loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
