Onyx surrenders licenses
The club was licensed by the City of Milwaukee to serve food, to serve alcohol, and to provide entertainment.
After a request from Common Council President Ashanti Hamilton, the operators of the Onyx Social Club & Restaurant voluntarily surrendered their alcohol and entertainment licenses yesterday (Monday, October 24).
The club, located at 3120 W. Villard Ave. (in Alderman Hamilton’s 1st District), was licensed by the City of Milwaukee to serve food, to serve alcohol, and to provide entertainment.
“Onyx has some challenges and those challenges have been a problem for residents living nearby and for patrons,” President Hamilton said.
“Licenses to operate an establishment in the City of Milwaukee are a privilege, and my goal is to maintain balance and cohesiveness by ensuring that businesses abide by very clear standards of safety, health, and order in the neighborhood,” he said.
