Next federal funding opportunity to create safer roads announced
WisDOT supports communities applying for competitive federal grant
The federal government announced a notice of funding opportunity for communities to apply for Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grants to improve roadway safety. Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has resources to support communities applying for these competitive federal discretionary grants.
Eight Wisconsin communities and municipalities were successful in the first round of the SS4A program and expect to receive nearly $6.7 million in planning and implementation grants.
WisDOT is poised to help communities tap into $1.1 billion in available new federal funding through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. WisDOT’s grant resources, at wisconsindot.gov/discretionarygrants, include a summary of open and future grants such as this recently-released SS4A funding opportunity, links for communities to request a Letter of Support, and others.
