MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors has unanimously reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to high-quality green spaces by releasing $600,000 in funding to enhance Milwaukee County Parks. This investment in Parks was made possible through the Board’s 2025 budget amendment process. Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson, Parks and Culture Committee Chair Sheldon A. Wasserman, and the author of the amendment, Supervisor Steve F. Taylor, issued the following statements:

“Our communities have made it clear—Investing in our parks is investing in the future of Milwaukee County. Parks activate public spaces, strengthen connections, and build community.” said Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson.

The funding, included in the Board’s adopted 2025 budget, will support high-priority park enhancements, including seasonal staffing, aquatics facility repairs, building improvements, dog exercise area enhancements, and systemwide traffic calming measures.

The initiative builds on the County’s ongoing efforts to activate public spaces and expand recreational opportunities.

“The Board made a strategic investment to strengthen Milwaukee County Parks,” said Supervisor Sheldon A. Wasserman. “Our parks are a cornerstone of community well-being, and this funding ensures they remain accessible, well-maintained, and welcoming for all.”

Supervisor Steve F. Taylor, author of the budget amendment, emphasized the targeted approach to these enhancements, stating:

“The Board stepped up and delivered targeted funding to address critical needs—boosting seasonal staffing, improving aquatics facilities, and keeping our parks thriving. These strategic investments will have lasting benefits for residents who rely on our parks for recreation and community.”

The approved funding will be administered by the Department of Administrative Services and the Office of the Comptroller, ensuring efficient allocation to park improvement projects.
