I hope the streetcar is passed by the Common Council on Tuesday.
We are in full support of this project which will bring a new level of vibrancy to our downtown
… and beyond. Please approve this project!
This streetcar WILL NOT bring jobs, the people who need transportation do not live in the area where this streetcar is proposed. Buses can go wherever transportation is needed whereas a streetcar is limited to where costly rail is installed. Instead of buying a mode of transportation that only a few would ride, support and increase buses & bus routes that do not cost anywhere what rail costs. If there isn’t ridership on a bus route, it’s moved. If ridership isn’t along a rail line, taxpayers are stuck with the cost of installing more rail. Instead of just saying support the rail, do your homework and investigate the costs between rail and bus. You don’t spend millions on a project just because “it looks neat”. Wise up young people, you will be paying FOREVER on a rail system that will not support itself. In ground rail lines will also cause accidents with motorcycles and motorized wheelchairs. Are you willing to pay those lawsuits too? Think really hard before you cast that vote.
C Brisls, do you find it ironic that you are commenting that “the people who need transportation do not live in the area where this streetcar is proposed” on a press release about how the streetcar will be extended to the areas where people who need transportation live?
And have you not yet heard anyone talk about the permanence of the rail lines as an asset, not as a shortcoming?
I did enjoy your hail Mary attempt to sway opinion by throwing in these random motorcycle and wheelchair crashes! I got a good chuckle from that one.
