The whole Domes things is really odd. The fully funded glory days of massive holiday shows are gone; the spaces don’t qualify as an authentic Horicultural Conservatory anymore. Just bull-doze the interiors, dress them with greenery as needed, and use them for events.

Re: special public event venues and a Winter Farmers Market

As a long time downtown resident, predating the creation and boom years of the Grand Ave. mall, I can not figure out why that open public space is not regularly used in all seasons, like the Plankinton Mall. Granted, that formerly public friendly space was once a lot more open as designed and built.
The amenities are already there: parking, lavatories, elevators, escalators, covered, heated, cooled, central, within all transportation modes, etc.

Given that new improved programming to the Domes is based on Booze Money, sorry “hospitality industry” investment, I’m gonna guess the same groups and their political cronies restrict use of venues like downtown’s vacant mall space, McDonell park, public Civic Center area, etc.
Isn’t that how the Mob once controlled cities during Prohibition?
