Summerfest and Generac to Honor Military on July 1 in a Program Featuring Speaker Staff Sergeant Keni Thomas

MILWAUKEE (June 16, 2022) – Summerfest presented by American Family Insurance and Generac Power Systems invite music fans to enjoy the powerful lineup on the Generac Power Stage during Summerfest and honor the Military during Military Appreciation Day on July 1.

The Generac Power Stage lineup this year includes The Black Crowes, Violent Femmes, Anthrax, GAYLE, Modern English, Death Cab for Cutie and many more.  Summerfest kicks off June 23, 2022 and runs for three consecutive weekends, Thursdays through Saturdays, June 23-25, June 30-July 2, and July 7-9.

“Generac Power Systems is pleased to bring such a strong and diverse musical lineup to Summerfest as we celebrate the second year of the Generac Power Stage at the festival,” said Aaron Jagdfeld, president and chief executive officer of Generac. “Additionally, as a company that has hundreds of military veterans across our growing team, Generac is proud to sponsor Military Appreciation Day on July 1. It provides all of us an opportunity to honor our nation’s brave soldiers and recognize their unwavering commitment and dedication to our country.”

Music fans will also have the unique opportunity to own a guitar signed by some of their favorite artists, while helping to support a great global cause.  Generac Power Systems is inviting the artists performing on their stage during Summerfest to autograph one of nine guitars, all to be donated to the American Red Cross. After Summerfest wraps up, all the autographed guitars – nine in total and one for each day of the festival – will be auctioned off by the American Red Cross. Proceeds will support American Red Cross International Services, which will help people affected by conflict, such as the situation in Ukraine, natural disasters, and other global humanitarian crises.

During Generac Military Appreciation Day on July 1 from noon – 6:00 p.m., all active-duty military personnel and veterans who present a valid Military ID, copy or photo of a DD-214 form, or driver’s license with Veteran classification at the designated turnstile at any gate, along with up to four (4) family members, will be admitted for free.

Generac and Summerfest will salute the Military during the Military Appreciation Ceremony, produced in partnership with the War Memorial Center, at 3:00 p.m. at the Generac Power Stage on July 1, 2022. It will feature a presentation of colors, vocal performances, and speaker Keni Thomas, Staff Sergeant in the Army and recipient of the bronze star for valor, and award-winning country music artist and songwriter. Thomas was recognized for being part of an elite special operations package, “Task Force Ranger,” that was later recounted in the book and movie “Black Hawk Down.”  Keni Thomas and his band will perform immediately following the ceremony.
