MU Inks MacKenzie Givens for 2026-27
MILWAUKEE – Marquette University women’s basketball head coach Cara Consuegra announced the signing of MacKenzie Givens. The rising junior will remain in the BIG EAST after spending the past two seasons at Xavier.
“MacKenzie brings a versatile skill set that fits exactly how we want to play,” Consuegra said. “She can score at all three levels by knocking down perimeter shots, attacking the rim and finishing with strength, and she is especially effective in transition as a player who runs the floor and can push the ball coast to coast. Defensively, her length and mindset allow her to guard multiple positions and set the tone with pressure and disruption. Offensively, she thrives in pace and space with her cutting, movement and feel for spacing. Combined with her relentless motor and competitive mindset, she is a player who consistently impacts the game with toughness and winning plays.”
The 6-foot wing from Cincinnati, Ohio, developed into one of Xavier’s most versatile contributors. Although averaging 8.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game during her two seasons, Givens made a significant jump from her freshman to her sophomore year. During the 2025–26 season, she averaged 11.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, increases of 9.5 points and 1.1 rebounds per outing from Year 1 to Year 2 while playing in 29 games.
Givens recorded 16 double-figure scoring performances and closed last season with double-digit points in each of Xavier’s final five games. She ranked 16th last year in the BIG EAST in scoring and is eighth among BIG EAST returners for 2026-27.
Givens prepped at Princeton High School in Cincinnati. During the 2022–23 season, she averaged 13.1 points per game, earned team MVP honors, and received Ohio All-State honorable mention recognition. She holds her school record for points in a single game and was a two-time Ohio All-Star selection.
