MPS Kindergarten Enrollment Fairs Are Jan. 31 and Feb. 21
New at Fairs: Learning Stations with Information and Activities for Traditional Kindergarten, Montessori, More
(MILWAUKEE) — It’s time for families with children turning 3, 4, or 5 by September 1, 2026, to prepare for kindergarten. The Milwaukee Public Schools Kindergarten Enrollment Fairs on January 31 and February 21 will help families find the right school for their kindergartners and enroll.
Families have many reasons to choose Milwaukee Public Schools. MPS is giving its teachers the best tools to teach students to read and is providing more art, music, and physical education, thanks to voter support. MPS also offers age-appropriate technology for students and extends learning beyond the classroom with exclusive learning journeys.
Families can choose a neighborhood school close to home or select nationally recognized arts, bilingual, language immersion, and Montessori programs.
Kindergarten enrollment for Fall 2026 will kick off with two enrollment fairs:
- Saturday, January 31, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
South Division High School, 1515 W. Lapham Blvd.
- Saturday, February 21, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
North Division High School, 1011 W. Center St.
At the fairs, families can learn about schools and programs and speak with school staff while children take part in activities. Information about transportation, before- and after-school care, how to prepare children for kindergarten, and more will be available.
Families also can visit learning stations, new at this year’s fairs. The stations will highlight Montessori education, traditional kindergarten, literacy, music and more. Each station will have activities for children and information for families.
In addition, MPS will host Montessori Morning on February 7 so that families can explore the district’s Montessori programs. This open house will have booths, breakout sessions, and a choir performance for families to enjoy, along with free childcare and light refreshments. Montessori Morning will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at MacDowell Montessori School, 6415 W. Mount Vernon Ave.
Children can be enrolled in kindergarten for the fall anytime from January 31 to March 2, 2026. Families who fill out the enrollment form by March 2 have the best opportunity at their first-choice school.
