MPD Officer Shot

MILWAUKEE, WI – Yesterday, Sunday, May 5, 2024, at approximately 10:52 p.m., Milwaukee Police officers were deployed on foot in the area of the 1200 block of S. Cesar Chavez Dr. for Cinco de Mayo when a suspect fired shots, subsequently striking an officer. Officers did not return fire and no one else was struck.

The officer, a 29-year-old male with over one year of service, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries.

MPD has three persons of interest in custody and recovered two firearms; however, we are still seeking additional information. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milwaukee Police at (414) 935-7360 or remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-TIPS or P3 Tips App.

This investigation is fluid and ongoing.

We want to thank the Milwaukee Fire Department for providing prompt medical attention to our officer.
