MMSD Overflow Alert
To reduce the risk of wasterwater backing up into homes and businesses, a combined sewer overflow started around 5:40 p.m. on April 2, 2024. At the time, the main deep tunnel was 76% full. The district needs to reserve capacity in the tunnel for separate sewer flows from the suburbs. Separate sewer overflows are illegal. Federal law allows six combined sewer overflows per year.
