Mitchell Clarke Friends Group To Host Community Cookout
Event to Celebrate, Educate Residents on the Domes Redevelopment Proposal
MILWAUKEE – Supervisor Juan Miguel Martinez and other community leaders will be attending the Mitchell Clarke Friends debut community cookout on Saturday, September 21st, at noon in Mitchell Park, where residents will have the opportunity to learn about the $133.4 million redevelopment plan for the Mitchell Park Domes, crafted by the Friends of the Domes and reviewed by Milwaukee County Committee on Parks and Culture. Milwaukee County Supervisor Juan Miguel Martinez and local residents Paul Grippe and Brandon Payton issued the following statements:
“We see this as an opportunity not just to save the Domes, but to reimagine their role in our community,” said Supervisor Martinez. “This cookout is a chance for residents to come together, share their thoughts, and become part of the effort to make our shared vision a reality.”
“People of Milwaukee consider the Milwaukee County Domes the Ninth Wonder of the World,” said Clarke Square resident Paul Grippe “Truly a Wonder in and of itself!”
“I have joined Friends of Mitchell Park/Clarke Square because these park spaces matter to our community and Milwaukee at large. Mitchell Park and Clarke Square need advocates, and the Friends of Mitchell Park/Clarke Square are neighbors standing up for our parks.” said Brandon Payton-Carrillo, resident of Clarke Square.
The cookout will feature food, music, and family-friendly activities, and will serve as a platform for community members to learn more about the proposed project.
